Various statutory rates of pay have now increased at the very start of this month.
Statutory sick pay
From today, statutory sick pay has increased from £99.35 to £109.40 per week.
Statutory maternity pay and other family leave pay
From 2 April 2023, statutory maternity, paternity, adoption, shared parental and parental bereavement pay and maternity allowance increased from £156.66 to £172.48 per week.
National Minimum Wage and National Living Wage
From 1 April 2023, the National Minimum Wage and National Living Wage increased as follows:
- For workers aged 23 or over, from £9.50 to £10.42 per hour.
- For workers aged 21 to 22. from £9.18 to £10.18 per hour.
- For 18 to 20 year-olds, from £6.83 to £7.49 per hour.
- For 16 to 17-year-olds, and for apprentices, from £4.81 to £5.28 per hour.
The daily accommodation offset has also increased from £8.70 to £9.10. This comes into play when a worker lives in accommodation provided by their employer, which charges them for that accommodation. The offset imposes a limit on what an employer can charge a minimum wage worker for that accommodation.
