Julie Stewart

Julie Stewart

Julie established Stewart Law Solicitors in 2004. Prior to that, she worked in the City for eight years in two large international law firms (Freshfields and Nabarro) where she practised employment law, pensions law and employee benefits law. She is a senior lawyer with extensive experience in all areas of employment law. Julie acts for a range of household names as well as employees and directors at varying levels. She is a trustee of a national charity which provides occupational health services and sits on the Board of Directors of a local residents association. She is a member of the Employment Lawyers Association. Julie speaks a number of foreign languages and has a BA Honours degree and an MA in law from Cambridge University.

John Wilson

John Wilson

John is a Senior Solicitor at Stewart Law Solicitors. He has been a specialist employment lawyer since 2003. John's career in law started in the City in 2001 when he joined the prestigious law firm, Nabarro. He subsequently qualified into its employment team. He worked there for five years before moving to Stewart Law Solicitors. John is very experienced in advising on all aspects of employment law and in acting for both employers and individuals. He is a member of the Employment Lawyers Association. John is fluent in German and has a good knowledge of German law both from his studies and from working in a large law firm in Berlin. John also speaks French and Spanish. He has an LLB degree from Warwick University.

Laura Jane Cooper-Young

Laura Jane Cooper-Young

Laura Jane is a Senior Paralegal at Stewart Law Solicitors. She joined the firm in August 2010. She is an integral part of our legal team. She works closely with our solicitors and with our clients and assists with our non-contentious and contentious legal work. She is responsible for various marketing and business development tasks. She works with our advertisers and our external design team to maintain our website and co-ordinate other marketing projects. Laura Jane graduated from Cardiff University in 2009 with a BA Honours degree in Journalism, Film and Media Studies. She went on to work as an Event Development Executive at an international conference and event provider. She researched and organised events in Brussels on European Union legislation. She regularly worked with senior members the European Commission and a variety of industry clients including Accenture, the European Heart Network and the British Chamber of Commerce in Belgium. Laura Jane achieved a Professional Development Award in Project Management in a scheme supported by the Welsh Assembly. Laura Jane has a strong background in research, administration and working closely with clients. She is highly motivated, personable and focused individual.

Charlotte Bakewell

Charlotte Bakewell

Charlotte is a Paralegal at Stewart Law Solicitors. She assists our solicitors and Laura Jane with our non-contentious and contentious legal work. Charlotte went to the Colchester County High School for Girls grammar school. She graduated from Northumbria University with an Honours degree in Law. She then completed the Legal Practice Course there in 2010. Charlotte worked as a Paralegal for her University law clinic where she practised employment law. Amongst other things, Charlotte drafted and advised on employment contracts, policies and procedures and apprenticeship issues. She also assisted with unfair dismissal and other contentious cases. Charlotte won an Employment Tribunal advocacy award. She worked within Human Resources for the NHS for two years before joining our firm in May 2011. Charlotte is awaiting training to be a volunteer Community Panel Member with the Essex Youth Offending Service, an organisation which works with children and young people who have offended and helps prevent them from re-offending. She has also volunteered to assist custody sergeants at police stations in caring for the welfare of detainees who are in police cells.

Goran Stewart

Goran Stewart

Goran is our firm's Practice Manager. He is responsible for all aspects of the firm's day to day management, with specific responsibility for client care, billing and other accounting matters. Prior to joining Stewart Law Solicitors, Goran had built up a long-standing and impressive career in account management within the retail and IT sectors. Goran was responsible at a senior level for the management of a number of well-known, high value and extremely prestigious clients, including Harrods, Selfridges, Marks & Spencer, PC World and Dixons. He worked as an extension to their teams and was extensively involved in product design and development through to manufacturing (both within the UK and overseas), supply and product launch with related costing and pricing structures. Goran managed and trained employees within his own in-house teams and also provided on site training to his clients' employees. Goran has a comprehensive understanding of IT systems and speaks Serbo-Croat fluently.

Lara Knighton

Lara Knighton

Lara is the PA to Julie and Goran. She also provides occasional administrative and secretarial support to John and Lisa. Lara has extensive knowledge of our business and liaises with all of our clients and suppliers. She is a very safe pair of hands. She has operated at a senior secretarial level within the legal world and the commercial sector for several years now. Lara commenced her career in Germany where she worked for the Armed Forces for four years. She worked as the PA to High Ranking Officers and had typing and other responsibilities in connection with restricted and secret material. She then moved back to the United Kingdom and joined a law firm where she worked as a Litigation Secretary on High Court, County Court and other work. She continued to progress through her career, working as a Legal Secretary within the fields of personal injury and probate. She then spent two years with BP providing senior level support to a team of 14 before joining Stewart Law Solicitors in August 2008.
